What this module supports
The Hostel module gives schools a dedicated workspace for boarding-related setup and room administration. It keeps room inventory, room classification, and hostel-level structure together so boarding assignments can stay tied to student operations instead of being managed separately.
Key capabilities
- manage Hostel Rooms with room number, room type, occupancy, and cost-per-bed information
- define reusable Room Types for standard hostel allocation patterns
- maintain top-level Hostels as the parent structure for room grouping
- review occupancy status from the room listing before assigning or reorganizing boarding capacity
- keep hostel administration aligned with wider campus service operations
UI surface in Smart School
The live Smart School UI currently exposes this module through three dedicated routes:
- Hostel Rooms
- Room Types
- Hostels
In the current UI, the room management page includes room search, hostel filtering, occupancy visibility, and an Add Room action. The table also highlights room details, hostel, room type, occupancy, and cost per bed, which makes the module operational rather than descriptive only.

Important note
Hostel data quality depends on clean room structure first. If hostels and room types are not configured consistently, occupancy tracking and later student-hostel assignments become difficult to trust.
